There was a stretch of time when the rain would not let up. Too much time had passed since we had been to the beach. The kids surprised me with all their pretend play during the rainy time. They played kitchen/store for hours at a time. This inspired me to create some felted fruit for their play kitchen.

In the practice of mindfulness and meditation, I have found hand sewing to feel like a meditation at times. (This is true of washing the dishes, folding laundry, and other ordinary things too.) The practice of being in the moment, no matter the task, brings peace and satisfaction to all moments. This is a truly wonderful way to be!

I decided not to include a pattern for the Watermelon because it was so angular and thus easy to figure out without a pattern.

The dragon fruit may be foreign for some. It is a fruit worth trying. The intensity of color and the subtle sweetness will steal your heart.
