Framed T-shirt Art for Father’s Day


The kids created this Father’s Day gift last year.


The kids painted the back of the shirt with fabric paint and then I used fabric markers to “frame” their art work. I then used the fabric markers to write on the front of the shirt.

You will need:

  1. Light colored Shirt(s)
  2. Fabric Paint in a variety of colors
  3. 1-2 colors of fabric pens
  4. Medium sized piece of cardboard
  5. brushes and painting pallet
  6. painting apron (this paint does not come out of clothes!)
  7. clothes pins would be helpful


  1. Prewash/dry the shirt
  2. Cut your cardboard the size you want the child’s painting surface to be.
  3. Place a piece of cardboard inside the t-shirt and position. Secure with clothes pins.
  4. Paint! Dry!
  5. Add the “frame” and writing to front of shirt
  6. Wrap it up and give it to dad or grandpa!
