I think it is easy to blame the media for the short comings of any organization. It is easy to blame, it is easy to point fingers. The media is an easy target for organizations like the catholic church who were caught with their pants down. Simply reporting to the public about the cover up the Pope and the Vatican were involved with outrages some catholics. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone in April 2010 blamed the gays for the sexual abuse of children and the subsequent mass cover up by the rest of the catholic organization. The Pope has blamed the "sin within the church" for the rape and cover up. An Argentinian cardinal (forget his name) blamed the VICTIMS for the rape. He claimed that the victims wanted sex and "lured priests into sinning". Pointing fingers and passing blame does not solve the root of the crime. It is human nature to want to pass the buck. However, it is admirable to own up to one's mistakes and take measures to rectify and prevent future crimes against children. This is something the catholic church has fallen irreparably short on.
