The Same-Sex Marriage Debate pictorial

I don’t see my preferred solution: privatize marriage. If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t perform or recognize it. On the other hand, I might choose to not recognize Mormon marriages.

Yes, I also think Marriage should be a private matter and the rights provided by a civil union should be allowed between any two consenting adults of legal age, no matter if they have a penis or a vagina.

Here’s a great quote for you all: “The way to destroy Christianity is to destroy the family, and the way to destroy the family is to introduce homosexuality. ” -Anthony Lavey

Saying something like the above quote does not make it true. I can say “the way to destroy spiders is to destroy ladybugs, and way to destroy ladybugs is to destroy bunnies.” That statement is meaningless without evidence, scientific studies… without that it is just someone’s opinion. Throwing out quotes by other people to make your point does not demonstrate the validity of your argument, it just demonstrates that you can recall a quote by someone with whom you are in agreement.

The families I know with two moms or two dads are healthy, happy and diverse. Their children are the most tolerant, accepting and bright pupils in my class. It is an argument from ignorance to say that homosexuals cannot be good parents. (I challenge you to spend a day in the home of a homosexual family to see what actually goes on) Most homosexuals are better parents than straight people who get divorces and tear their families apart. Homosexuals suffer intolerance by people like yourself simply because they are different. Blacks know this same intolerance. In many ways the social evils homosexuals endure today are no different than the blacks endured, even after their freedom was granted.

Even today, in all but three states, a restaurant owner is legally able to throw out a homosexual for that very reason. This was also true for blacks in our recent past. In the past, blacks couldn’t legally marry anyone except another black person. They were limited by the color of their skin to determine who they could love. Today, we are limited by the type of genitalia to determine who we may love. The government should not tell me who I can love based on skin color or sexual preference. As long as I am a consenting human being of legal age, I should be able to marry whom I wish in the eyes of the state.

You are blaming gay couples for straight couples’ inability to stay married. The two are completely unrelated. That is like blaming the postman because you don’t get along with your in-laws.
