This morning a Tugboat collided with an oil rig off the coast of Louisiana. The crash caused the rig to catch fire and spew oil to leak, covering a 1 mile radius in only a half day. The tugboat driver claimed that the rig was not fully illuminated, even though it was 11am in the middle of the day.
In Michigan today, Detroit News reported that and oil pipeline had burst and was flowing into tributary rivers that feed into the great lakes. The oil leaked undetected for hours before local river residents complained of an oil smell. Local residents have been evacuated as the oil contamination reached dangerous levels. It has been estimated that 1 million gallons have been spilled, the largest oil spill in the midwest according to the EPA.

Are you a neat freak? Always cleaning with windex, pledge, air fresheners and 409? The same chemicals that may be killing all those germs in your home may also be causing breast cancer in women.
Women who report greater use of cleaning products may be at higher breast cancer risk than those who say they use them sparingly. Researchers writing in BioMed Central’s open access journal Environmental Health asked more than 1500 women about their cleaning product usage and found that women who reported using more air fresheners and products for mold and mildew control had a higher incidence of breast cancer. – ScienceDaily.com Continue reading…
Because the FDA does not require cleaning products to list their toxic ingredients, our family decided to rid our home of all cleaners, soaps and personal products. We make our own soap and use a vinegar/water mix to clean surfaces. When we buy personal products, we research them and their ingredients and only buy products without human carcinogens or parabens.

There is a chemical warfare happening in American homes. We have taken measures to eliminate all toxic cleaners, personal products and cosmetics from our home. The result is a cheaper, healthier way of cleaning. From ScienceDaily.com:

BP’s CEO Tony Hayword stopped by congress yesterday to testify about the Gulf Oil Spill. He seems to have been in a coma for his entire term as CEO of BP. Here is a summation of the frustration that ensued as Hayword was questioned.

Hands down the most refreshing book I have read in years. “Last Chance to See” by Douglas Adams fits into the non fiction section with a toe in the humor that characterizes Adams’ most famous series: “The Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy“. Adams recounts his travels around the world in a last ditch attempt to [...]

How do you atone for something terrible, like the Inquisition? Joseph Ratzinger attempted to do just that for the Roman Catholic Church during a grandiose display of Vatican penance — the Day of Pardon on March 12, 2000, a ritual presided over by Pope John Paul II and meant to purify two millenniums of church history.

Today I saw another commercial promising to magically remove stains from your laundry. All you had to do was buy another product just for stains, throw it in with your laundry and laundry detergent and presto bamo! no more stains. Some women I know adore this idea of a quick fix, but those same people are often the last ones to ask what chemicals are in the product that are strong enough to do that.

The church’s suggestion would be to let both the mother and the fetus die, rather than abort to save the life of the mother. It is a double standard for the church to excommunicate a nun for saving the life of this women and then take no action to excommunicate priests who rape children repeatedly, but rather move them from one parish to another.
